Normally I'd be out hiking or hanging out on a beach with a winery afterwards so it's a win for you. AND my favorite Leelanau wineries are Bel Lago with a garden patio overlooking S Leelanau (affordable white Primavera) and tiny Chateau Fontaine (affordable Bear Paw Red). You have a hefty entrance fee to state parks at each entrance as an out of stater, so investigate options before all the long drives. Lunch outside on water from Knot Just A Bar next door-get the perch cone. Travelers love the low price point on the wine and the bay view is amazing. Maybe a stop at Leelanau Cellars right on 22 in Omena. Lighthouse in state park at end of Leelanau Peninsula: A really long day driving along West Bay stopping (off your beaten path again but worth it) at Shady Lane & Ciccone wineries, possibly Mawby (wonderful sparkling) and driving through Suttons Bay, Omena, and Northport. ![]() Wineries are just now figuring out new regulations so check before visiting. Great views from many wineries-especially Mari, Chateau Grand Traverse, Hawthorn, Chateau Chantal and I think 2 Lads. stopping at wineries on the way to/ from the lighthouse at the end. Lighthouses: Long day-Drive Old Mission Penn. Choice of locally made breads! The ruben!! Many excellent soups. Hidden gem: Green House Cafe on Front St. Wonderful whitefish! Fustini's oils on tables! If doing winery tour on Old Mission Peninsula, Boathouse $$$$ has amazing seafood and everything else. Seafood: Apache Trout Grill also on West GT Bay-waterfront outside dining. Lots of 2 for 1 specials now at Harringtons. Steaks: Harringtons on west side 22 on West Bay-can eat out on porch w/ water view across busy traffic though. Tricky to find the first time, ask for help at hotel) MX food: Mama Lu's on Front and your hole in the wall gem, Spanglish in The Village at Grand Traverse Commons (old state hospital complex redone into shops, excellent restaurants and condos off Division St. No room fridges though and lots of Victorian rose pattered wallpaper for the guys to "enjoy". That maade the stuation much easier to handle. It can be completed by anyone over the age of 18. But when you come into the Bounce House there is a pepper waiver you read and sign. She calmly and kindly explained you can do the waiver on line. The women who answered the phone was so nice and perfessional. Did it have to be completed by their mother or?. I called because I was a bit confused about the waiver that has to be signed. And found out about this wonderful business in the Cherryland Mall Shopping Center. My friends were taking their Grand CHildren up to the Traverse City, Michigan area recently. ![]()
